Franchise System Review

What was relevant at one time for your franchise may not be revelant now, making it important to go undergo a franchise system review periodically in order to ensure your organisation is performing at its optimum level.

A franchise system review is key to understanding gaps, risks and broad opportunities for improvement within the current franchise network structure. The review also helps by researching and analysing current levels of franchisor and franchisee performance.

With respect to franchisee performance, this helps to identify performance issues associated with different franchisee configurations.

Finally, a franchise system review identifies the platform upon which changes can be made in order to maximise the brand’s opportunities whilst mitigating potential risks.

BDA’s Franchise System Review ‘Health Check’ comprises two inter-related steps.

PART A: Review of Existing Franchise Network and Infrastructure

With the view to evaluating the existing franchise network against best practice, we would request access to a wide range of documents associated with the franchise system, as well as conduct meetings with senior management. Time is then spent reviewing and evaluating the existing franchise network infrastructure as well as any existing plans for the future.

PART B: Review of Existing Levels of Franchisee Performance

This step involves a request for access to financial documents and interviews with both franchisor management and selected franchisees. The objective here is to review and assess current levels of performance – at both the Franchisor and Franchisee levels (considering different configurations).

Parts A & B collectively provide a strong basis and benchmark upon which future plans can be formulated, and performance can be measured against.
