Retail Leasing and Your Franchise

Q. Why lease a shop?

A. To get out of it of course.
The purpose of a retaillease is to create and maintain the value of your business. The way this value is realised is to eventually sell the asset.

In a retail business the goodwill, the value of the asset, is secured by the brand and the location. Without a location a retail brand has no value. It is the lease that secures the location. Hence the value of your asset, the business, is directly dependent on maintaining a viable lease agreement. This requires much more than just negotiating a new rent every five years. This workshop will cover the basics of negotiating, renewing and managing your retail lease and your relationship with the Landlord to meet the commercial objectives of your business

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Understanding how your retail lease affects the value of your business.
  • Familiarity with standard leasing terms.
  • Understanding and documenting the premises requirements of your business.
  • Translating those requirements into viable lease terms.
  • The necessary skills required to successfully negotiate and manage your retail lease.

Who Should Attend

This workshop provides essential training and reinforcement for Store Managers, Franchisees, Franchisors, CEO’s, Franchise Field Managers, BDM’s, Master Franchisees and corporate staff looking charged with leasing responsibilities.
